Leaked: New Pixel Phones Launching Early October

Reputed serial leaker, Evan Blass, has announced the 2nd Generation of Google’s Pixel smartphones will be revealed on October 5th.

Blass also revealed that the Pixel & Pixel XL successors will include Qualcomm’s latest premium mobile processor, the Snapdragon 836 system-on-a-chip.

Reports state whilst both aforementioned handsets were largely identical, the new versions could be more differentiated.

The “Pixel 2” is said to be smaller and a minor upgrade from the current model. It will also boast the new CPU, refreshed camera, and include a “squeezable” frame (similar to that seen on the HTC U11).

Word has it, the larger Pixel 2 XL has been commissioned to LG to manufacture.

The Pixel 2 XL’s design will be reflective of its predecessor, however, it will noticeably reduce its front bezel to appear ‘borderless’, matching other premium phones as Samsung and the Essential Phone.

It is expected Google will input as much technology into the Pixel phones as possible, especially in the larger model.

If current rumours are true, the handsets will appear without a dual camera system – found on virtually all other flagship models – and a headphone jack.

It’s likely Google will hold a special event for the launch, which will include the unveiling of other products as a new Chromebook Pixel, and a more affordable, smaller Google Home device.
