The ‘ThinkPad’ was launched nearly 25 years ago, and to mark the milestone recent leaks reveal Lenovo – who bought the item from IBM – are releasing a special retro ‘ThinkPad 25’ laptop, featuring much of the original design and aesthetics.
‘WinFuture’ leaked many of the device’s specs and features, coupled with leaked images.
The ThinkPad 25 is said to be based on Lenovo’s existing T470 model, featuring a 14″ IPS display (1920 x 1080), with TrackPoint integration, a ThinkVantage blue enter button and colourful ThinkPad logo.
The leaks state the laptop will include Intel Core i7, 16GB of RAM, 512GB of SSD storage, LTE support and a Nvidia GeForce 940MX graphics chip.
The laptop is reported to have a USB-C port, three USB slots, SD card reader, HDMI port and Ethernet connectivity.
Despite its retro exterior, the device encompasses a suite of modern hardware.
Reports state Lenovo will also include a fingerprint reader and webcam. Boh features will include Windows Hello support, allowing individuals to log in with fingerprint or facial recognition.
The 25th-anniversary product appears to be very similar a retro-classic Thinkpad, David Hill, Lenovo’s VP for Design, alluded to two years ago.
Thus far, it’s not exactly clear when the ThinkPad 25 is scheduled to launch. Given that the anniversary is in October, it’s logical to assume it will be around that time.
