LG Smart TVs To Feature New webOS 2.0 Platform At CES 2015
LG states the latest version of its webOS platform is designed “to enhance the key features found in the current generation of smart TVs”.
Among the upgrades of webOS 2.0, LG states boot time has been reduced by up to 60 per cent, while accessing content has been made “significantly smoother and faster”. By way of example, LG states when switching from the home screen to YouTube, users will see an improvement in loading time of up to 70 per cent. New to webOS 2.0 is My Channels, allowing users to customise their favourite live TV channels or set-top box channels on the Launcher Bar, while Quick Settings provides for users to adjust their TV without interrupting the program they’re watching. Input Picker, meanwhile, allows connected devices to be “recognised instantly for immediate use”. “With the newest features introduced in webOS 2.0, the overall user experience has become even simpler, easier and more intuitive,” commented In-kyu Lee, LG Electronics Home Entertainment Company senior vice president and head of the TV and monitor division. |
