Samsung are said to be about to release a “lite” version of its best-selling Galaxy Note 3 phablet, called ‘Note 3 Neo’, with a breakthrough hexa-core processor. The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Neo reportedly has a 5.55″ 720p Super AMOLED display (slightly smaller than Note 3), an 8MP camera, runs Android 4.3 Jelly Bean, and a powerful 3,100 mAh battery.
In other words, many of the specs of big brother, Note 3.
But the major breakthrough of the “Neo” phablet is reported to run a hexa-core processor, which uses its 6 cores simultaneously (2 @ 1.7GHz, and 4 @ 1.3GHz). If so, “Neo” would be the first Samsung phone to offer this, and would be even speedier than its quad-core Galaxy predecessors.
Samsung has submitted the device (pictured) to the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), as eyed by SamMobile. The other real difference in the “lite” phablet (phone + tablet), is said to be the price, tipped as much cheaper than the $890 RRP attached to Note 3, released late last year.
Samsung are said to be prepping Neo for a Q1 launch and it could see the light of day at WMC in Barcelona next month, where Samsung’s S5 may also be rearing its head.
The Korean powerhouse recently vowed to up the ante on tablets. Note 3 Neo could be one of several steps (see CES 2014 launches) in this direction.
