Official: Biggest Note 4 Launch Yet
Just six days before Apple’s annual iPhone extravaganza hijacks the world press and everyone’s attention, Samsung is sneaking in the launch of its most advanced smartphone: the Galaxy Note series.
Coming complete with multifunction pressure sensitive stylus and famously large screen, ChannelNews previously reported the Note 4 will be the first to come with an ultraviolet sensor in its S-Health app, and could come with a curved OLED display.
Samsung Galaxy S5 features including a fingerprint reader along with IP67 “water resistance” are also expected to debut on the Galaxy Note 4.
We also reported expectations that the Note 4 would launch on September 3, two days before the IFA trade fair in Berlin, Germany, and that’s exactly what has been confirmed.
Samsung has announced its latest ‘Unpacked 2014 Episode 2’ event, with the news that it will happen in three cities simultaneously – Berlin, Beijing and New York.
The invite asks the press to “Note the Date” instead of the more usual “save the date”, which is a clear reference to the Galaxy Note, indicates the anticipated press event will commence at 3pm Central European Summer Time (CEST) in Berlin, and will be streamed live globally at Samsung’s YouTube channel.
The invite also features a drawing of the Note’s circular menu system when the stylus is used, which is also another inescapable indication a notable new Note is now less than a month away from its official global launch.
The Note 4 event comes 6 days before Apple’s iPhone event on September 9, ensuring that September will be one heck of a month to remember.
Or rather, companies hope that consumers will still remember their products after the iPhone 6 sucks all the attention away.
Indeed, the threat of an Apple iPhone media blackout is yet again another of the big reasons why everyone strives to plan their launches either well before or well after Apple fires off its biggest salvos.
May the best smartphone win!
