Intel Shines With Q1 Results
Intel’s Q1 results have the tech sector buzzing, after the company reported revenue of US$16.1 billion, up 9 percent year-over-year and with an operating profit of $4.5 billion.
Intel said revenue in its datacentre group (DCG) grew 24 percent year over year in Q1. The DCG sells processors and other components into server, networking, and storage applications.
Intel said the rise was due to broad-based demand strength across all of the segments that DCG serves, including enterprise server, cloud server, and networking. The company says DCG is expected to become the company’s key growth engine.
Personal computer sales reversed an expected decline, but the company reported strength in its notebook computer shipments, with average selling prices rising one percent while unit shipments grew four percent.
