SAN FRANCISCO – Intel’s new-generation 14nm processors are in short supply, a situation expected to significantly affect PC shipments.
Intel has just released two new 14nm processors: eighth-generation Core U low power mobile processors codenamed Whiskey Lake along with Core Y Amber Lake processors for slim notebooks and tablets.
Acer intends to use the processors in its new super-slim notebook models and the chips are also slated for the latest MacBook series.
Analysts say the largest variable to PC market sales rests with Intel’s actual CPU supply performance rather than the US-China trade war.
