IFA 2017: LG And B&O Partner On New OLED TV

LG has collaborated with Bang & Olufsen on a new TV that combines the former’s 4K HDR OLED technology with the latter’s “sophisticated approach to audio”.

On display for the first time at IFA 2017, the BeoVision Eclipse TV is the first Bang & Olfusen branded OLED TV, and integrates a large three-channel 450W ‘SoundCentre’ that extends outside the frame of a typical TV which can connect wirelessly to eight other speakers.

“Consumers all over the world will immediately recognize LG’s unrivaled OLED and video processing technology inside this beautiful television crafted by Bang & Olufsen, a company with a strong heritage in design and sound,” said Lee Sang-woo, vice president of business strategy at the LG Electronics Home Entertainment Company.

The BeoVision Eclipse is able to be mounted on a motorised floor stand that can adjust the angle of the TV or even move it across the floor using the remote control. Manual and motorised wall mounts are also available.

Bang & Olufsen said its collaboration with LG for the BeoVision Eclipse was part of a new strategy of “expanding its technological capabilities and scale through partnerships”.

“Bang & Olufsen and LG both share a long tradition of innovation and craftsmanship,” said Stefan K. Persson, executive vice president at Bang & Olufsen.

“The strategic partnership between the two companies demonstrates the mutual desire to continuously push the boundaries when it comes to merging world-class design and cutting-edge technology. The result of this collaboration, the BeoVision Eclipse, is a true example of that,” Persson said.

The BeoVision Eclipse will be available in 55-inch and 65-inch sizes.
