Haier Reveals Horizon Fridge Range As Smarter, Larger Appliances Gain Traction
Haier has introduced a new refrigerator line-up called the Horizon Collection, signalling a shift towards bigger capacities, smarter features and more advanced food preservation in modern kitchens.
The new range includes models offering up to 700 litres of storage, reflecting changing household habits where consumers are storing more food and planning meals over longer periods. Larger freezer sections and flexible storage layouts are becoming increasingly important as people look to reduce shopping frequency and better organise fresh and frozen items.
Inside, the design focuses on adaptability, with adjustable shelves and expanded freezer drawers aimed at improving access and visibility. The layout is intended to make everyday use more efficient while allowing users to separate different food types more effectively.
Haier has also introduced a range of preservation technologies across the lineup. These include humidity-controlled compartments and antibacterial systems designed to help maintain freshness while limiting odours and bacterial growth. A key feature is the company’s NutriBank system, which is designed to extend the storage life of meat and fish without freezing, helping preserve texture and nutritional quality.

IFA Berlin 2024, the world’s leading trade show for consumer electronics and home appliances, kicked off Friday, bringing together over 1,800 global exhibitors, 125 keynote speakers and more than 182,000 visitors from 139 countries, according to the organizer.

The Horizon Collection also leans into connected home trends with the addition of AI-driven features. These tools can track stored items, monitor expiry dates and suggest storage adjustments, with the goal of reducing food waste. Some models also include displays that allow users to check contents without opening the door, helping maintain stable internal temperatures and improve energy efficiency.
Energy performance remains a focus despite the larger capacities, with models reaching up to Energy Class C, placing them among the more efficient options in this segment. Additional features such as built-in water and ice systems highlight the growing expectation that refrigerators serve multiple functions beyond basic cooling.
Visually, the range adopts a more design-led approach, with glass finishes and integrated lighting that position the appliance as a focal point within the kitchen rather than something purely utilitarian.
Haier first unveiled the Horizon Collection in London in March 2026, with the range expected to arrive in Australia in the near future. Pricing has not yet been confirmed for the local market.
