Warhorse Studios, the developer behind Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, has confirmed a cyberattack that allowed hackers to gain unauthorised access to its internal systems and company data.

The Czech gaming studio revealed the security breach in an official statement, confirming it has enlisted cybersecurity experts to investigate the attack and determine the extent of the damage.

The company has not disclosed what information was compromised, how the attackers gained access or whether sensitive employee and customer information was exposed.

“We are working with cybersecurity experts to secure our systems, investigate the incident, and assess its full impact,” Warhorse Studios said.

The developer has also declined to comment further while the investigation remains underway.

“As the investigation continues, Warhorse Studios is not conducting interviews or providing additional comments at this time. We will share further information when it becomes available.”

Warhorse Studios CEO Martin Frývaldský described the breach as a serious incident for the company and anyone potentially affected.

“We are dedicating the resources needed to address this situation and will communicate further information as soon as we responsibly can,” Frývaldský said.

It remains unclear whether the attack has disrupted the studio’s day-to-day operations or affected its game development activities.

The incident comes amid a series of cybersecurity breaches affecting some of the gaming industry’s biggest names.

Last week, Capcom confirmed a major data breach involving more than 11.7 million Capcom ID accounts, with customer information accessed by an unauthorised third party.

Rockstar Games, the developer behind Grand Theft Auto, was also caught up in a third-party data breach earlier this year.

The company described that incident as involving a limited amount of non-material information.

Rockstar previously experienced a much more damaging security breach in September 2022, when around 90 development videos from the highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto 6 were leaked online.

The footage provided an unprecedented look at the unfinished game, highlighting the potential consequences of security failures for developers working on major releases.

Cyberattacks targeting gaming companies can expose sensitive corporate information, intellectual property and personal data, while potentially disrupting development schedules and business operations.

For Warhorse Studios, the full impact of the latest breach remains unknown.

The developer has not confirmed whether ransomware was involved, whether any information has been publicly leaked or whether the attackers have demanded payment.

Warhorse says it will provide further updates once its investigation establishes more details about the incident.
