GoPro To Compensate For Karma Recall With Free Cameras
GoPro has announced that, at least for American customers, those who purchased its new Karma drone and had to return it as part of last week’s recall will be compensated with a free Hero5 Black camera.
The company says that “once your complete return has been processed and refund issued we will send you a HERO5 Black as a thank you.”
Approximately 2,500 Karma units are now believed to be in the process of being refunded.
The company issued the recall for its new premium Karma Drone after a users reported the device losing power while in use.
“Safety is our top priority,” CEO Nicholas Woodman said last week.
“We are working in close coordination with both the U.S. Consumer Products Safety Commission and Federal Aviation Administration. We are very sorry to have inconvenienced our customers and we are taking every step to make the return and refund process as easy as possible,” he said.
ChannelNews has reached out to GoPro for clarification and were told that the “Karma hadn’t shipped to Australia so it shouldn’t impact customers in Australia,” unless “they bought one some other way and brought it back to Australia”
