Google is reportedly developing a premium Google Home smart speaker focused on producing stereo quality sound and featuring more built-in speakers than the current model.
The amped up model, said to be named Google Home ‘Max’, will include dual mid-range drivers and a single tweeter. It’s an upgrade from the current Google Home’s “high excursion” speaker, which isn’t capable of playing stereo quality music.

The Google Home Max is positioned to rival Amazon’s Echo ($US99) and Apple’s HomePod ($US349).
Whilst Google is set to host an event on October 4th, it’s not clear whether the Google Home Max will be unveiled too.
