Google Reveal Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro
Arguably in what was the biggest announcement at their I/O developer conference, Google have lifted the lid on their highly anticipated Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro smartphones. Following the overall failure that was the Pixel 6 range, Google will want to come out swinging with the new iteration to take on the likes of Samsung and Apple.
In appearances, the Pixel 7 seems to be a considerable step up from the boxy and rather slapped together Pixel 6. While they have kept the massive blocky camera module, they have shrunk it down, ditched the plastic for aluminum and featured colour highlights, making the phone seem more modern and fun. Matte glass also adds an additional premium feel.
Visually, the Pixel 7, Pixel 7 Pro and Pixel 6a are very similar, with the number of cameras and glass wrapping being the only immediate visible differences.
The new generation of Pixel phones will be powered by the next generation of Google’s Tensor chip, an arguably much needed upgrade seeing as most Android flagships are running the powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. While there is currently no information on what the specs of the new chip are, or what it will be called, its being referred to for now as the Google Tensor 2.
In very standard Google Pixel fashion, the new range will also launch with the latest Android OS, this time being Android 13.
Specs, pricing and release date have been kept vague for now, however we know that the Pixel 7 range will be available in Spring over here, likely around October 2022.
