Gaming Notebook Market Booms, Razer Charges Ahead

Recent reports confirm competition within the Asia Pacific gaming notebook market is continuing to intensify, with Singaporean-based Razer emerging as the new ‘star’, and on track to become the biggest competitor to Asus and MSI.

Taiwanese-based trade publication, DigiTimes, forecasts about 5.5 million gaming notebooks will be shipped globally, up from 4.5 million last year.

Whilst Asus and MSI maintain their ranking as the top two global vendors, sources affirm reveal they are facing increasing competition from players such as Razer, especially in the Asia Pacific.

Razer is a notable manufacturer of gaming accessories – such as mice, earphones and keyboards – however is aggressively expanding into gaming notebooks following a successful investment round, and listing on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange.

Lenovo is reportedly the leading brand for gaming notebooks in China, with other competitors like Acer also attempting to grasp global market share.

Following intensifying competition in the space, both Asus and MSI are reportedly considering an adjustment to their pricing strategies, whilst engaging in targeted marketing campaigns.

Asustek Chief Executive, Jerry Shen, claims that the company’s new gaming computer division will show notable results in the second quarter of 2018, following the expansion of its gaming ecosystem.
