Foxtel To Air Australia’s First LIVE 4K Football Match

Foxtel has sought to emerge a leader in premium sports, by airing Australia’s first LIVE football match in 4K quality – Barcelona versus Real Madrid – at 2AM (AEDT) October 29 on ‘Channel 444’.

The milestone marks yet another Aussie first for Foxtel, who launched the country’s first dedicated cricket channel (‘Fox Cricket’) early this month.

In September, Foxtel aired the Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000 in 4K quality, with more sports tipped to rollout.

Fox Cricket offers 24/7 cricket coverage from November 2018 to March 2019, including a plethora of LIVE 4K matches on Foxtel’s ‘Channel 444’.

Announced today, Foxtel will air a selection of 2018/2019 LaLiga season matches in continuous 4K coverage.

The LaLiga El Clasico matchup between Barcelona and Real Madrid, is broadcast in partnership with beIN SPORTS.

Soccer fans will also be able to watch every game of the 2018/19 LaLiga season LIVE and in standard HD on beIN SPORTS, with live coverage of LaLiga, Serie A, Bundesliga and Ligue 1.

Ongoing 4K coverage of two LaLiga games every round will continue from November 4 to Foxtel Sports subscribers.

Foxtel CEO, Patrick Delaney, asserts LaLiga will pick up its 4K pace, as its seeks to bring sport “to life.”

“There’s never been a better time to sign up and experience sport like never before.”

As previously reported, Foxtel’s 4K sports is available to Platinum HD or Foxtel Sports HD subscribers, harnessing a satellite connection and its new iQ4 set-top box, for guaranteed 4K delivery.
