Former Panasonic Exec Joins Tempo Microwave Battle Looms

Matt Pearce, a former Panasonic executive, who joined Fetch TV when they moved to market their set top box via retail stores has been appointed as the Product and Marketing Manager for Sharp Home Appliances.

Now distributed by Tempo, Sharp has a new range coming in 2022 with several leading retailers now ranging Sharp appliances after they moved from a direct corporate operation to Tempo who also recently launched Sharp TVs into the Australian market.

Pearce who was Sales Director at Fetch TV for 7 years joins Nigel Dent a former Harvey Norman executive who is now General Manager for Sharp Home Appliances at Tempo.

“We are in growth mode with Sharp appliances and in 2022 we have several new products for retailers that we believe will prove popular in the market as Sharp is a well-known and trusted Japanese brand,” said Dent.

“The appointment of Pearce adds another level of skill to our team which next year will launch a new range of microwaves”.

Currently Pearce’s former employer for 7 years, Panasonic is the number one brand in the microwave market, with Sharp set to challenge their dominance.

“Pearce’s role will initially be focused on assessing the opportunity for Sharp across a variety of categories, and to quickly grow the Microwave business, focused on driving volume and category growth,” said Dent.

“Sharp has an outstanding heritage in this category but more importantly has some outstanding technology in Smart Inverter and Convection which offers Retailers and Consumers real benefits. I look forward to working with the team at Tempo to reinvigorate Sharp in the minds of Retailers and Consumers alike,” said Pearce.

Andrew Stergiotis, Director at Tempo said, “Sharp is a critical brand for our business and with our investment in both Nigel and Matt, we have a team who can successfully grow Sharp Home Appliances in Australia.” e country.
