Flexson has launched a new in-ceiling mount that allows selected Sonos speakers to be installed directly inside a ceiling void, removing the need for a separate amplifier and passive speakers.

The Flexson In-Ceiling Mount supports the Sonos Era 100, Era 100 Pro, Sonos One and One SL, with the speaker secured inside a purpose-built cradle and concealed behind a paintable grille.

Round and square grille options are included, allowing the speaker to sit flush with the ceiling and deliver a cleaner, more discreet finish.

Flexson is targeting apartments, retrofits, smaller rooms and commercial installations where a conventional custom-install system may be too expensive or difficult to accommodate.

Traditional Sonos ceiling systems typically require a Sonos Amp, passive speakers, rack space and cabling back to a central location. Flexson’s solution instead places the powered Sonos speaker directly in the ceiling.

The Era 100 Pro offers the simplest installation through Power over Ethernet, allowing power and audio to be delivered through a single CAT5e or CAT6 cable.

“Clients love Sonos, but they don’t love seeing it,” Flexson director Mark Glen said.

“This mount lets the trade offer a true custom-install finish using the Sonos speakers their customers already know.”

The mount is available through Flexson’s custom-install distribution partners. It is priced at £149.99 in the UK and US$169.99 in North America, with Australian pricing and availability yet to be confirmed.
