Panasonic To Launch 85inch Plasma

Panasonic has introduced an 85″ Plasma TV that is 70% lighter than their big 103 inch monster. The depth of the screen is only 99mm.

The weight saving and slim line profile are largely the result of Panasonic’s NeoPDP double luminance technology technology which focuses on and improves the efficiency of three different components – materials and processes, gas discharge and cell design, and circuit technologies. Along with considerable weight savings, panels with NeoPDP use around half the power and are twice as bright as conventional Plasma screens.

The 85in plasma has a Full HD, 1,920 x 1,080 pixel resolution and a quoted contrast ratio of 40,000:1 static and 2,000,000:1 dynamic. The panel area is comparable to four 42in plasmas.

Panasonic are planning to release their 85in NeoPDP plasma in Australia later this year. Currently there is no pricing information.
