eBay, Aus Post Satchel Set To Hurt Amazon

ebay

eBay has thrown a counterpunch against Amazon, debuting new seller tools in partnership with Australia Post – a service set to compete with ‘Fulfilment By Amazon’ (FBA), and reduce seller costs up to 30%.

The new ‘Ebay Fulfilment Partner’ service claims to reduce sellers’ warehousing, packing and delivering costs by outsourcing tasks to Australia Post’s ‘Fulfilio’.

The news comes after eBay Australia issued a ban against sellers using Amazon’s FBA service to fulfil orders. It contrasts other global regions, where businesses can use FBA to fulfil orders outside of Amazon’s website.

As previously reported, six months ago Amazon Australia brought its renowned FBA service to local sellers. The American behemoth has one distribution centre in Melbourne, with a second in Sydney tipped to go live later this year.

eBay Australia currently boasts around 11 million visitors per month, with around 40,000 local sellers.

Further information, and seller registration is available on eBay’s website here.
