Dick Smith Race Is On
Today at Dick Smith’s head office at Chullora, 110 weird and wacky vehicles set off on Australia’s biggest motoring event, the Variety Dick Smith Bash, to raise much needed money for Variety – the Children’s Charity.
The Bash’s participants this year includes some Smurfs, Shrek, and Batman and Robin, helped along their way with a free Navman sat nav from Dick Smith
Testing new technology, the Dick Smith team will be trialling the SatSleeve on the road; a new device that attaches to an iPhone, that turns it into a satellite phone so the team will have mobile coverage in even the most remote locations, via an app.
SatSleeves will be available to buy from Dick Smith stores shortly.
The Variety Dick Smith Bash departed today from Chullora in Bankstown and finishes in Ballarat on Saturday August 31st.
The teams will make pit stops at 17 regional and remote towns across New South Wales, South Australia, Queensland and Victoria throughout the 4,425 kilometre adventure including Manildra, Nyngan, Innamincka, Peterborough, Mildura and Horsham.
In addition to the joy that the colourful convoy brings to each town, the Bashers (participants) deliver much needed resources to local schools, including sporting equipment, play equipment or special needs/medical equipment, as well as a $500 Dick Smith voucher.
