DJI’s New Wireless Video System Sends 4K Footage Up To 4km
DJI has launched its second-generation SDR Transmission system, upgrading wireless monitoring to 4K at 60fps and extending its claimed range to 4km.
Aimed at film, TV, live-event and sports productions, SDR Transmission 2 can transmit DCI 4K 60fps video with 10-bit HDR at up to 50Mbps. The original model was limited to 1080p at 20Mbps over a maximum 3km range.
Latency remains as low as 35 milliseconds, making the system suitable for tasks requiring responsive control, including remote focus adjustment and gimbal movement.
Each compact unit can be switched between transmitter and receiver modes, removing the need to purchase or allocate separate fixed devices for each role.

One transmitter can connect with up to eight receivers, each supporting remote control. Larger productions can operate as many as five transmitters and 40 receivers simultaneously, although users can view only one camera feed at a time without a separate video switcher.
Auto Channel 2.0 automatically scans and allocates frequencies while providing interference warnings. Users can also switch between available camera feeds with a tap rather than rebooting and pairing equipment again.
Through the DJI Ronin app, compatible phones and tablets can display monitoring tools including LUTs, focus peaking, false colour and waveforms.

PTP support allows operators to remotely control compatible camera functions including aperture, shutter speed, ISO and recording. The system also integrates with DJI’s RS 5, RS 4, RS 4 Pro, RS 3 Pro, Ronin 2 and Master Wheels.
The transceiver weighs 136g and can be powered using an NP-F battery or USB-C. An optional expansion kit adds SDI, HDMI and additional USB-C connections, although SDI video is limited to 1080p at 60fps.
European pricing starts at €349 for one transceiver, while a two-unit combo costs €629.
DJI has not confirmed Australian pricing or availability. Its Australian online store currently lists the original SDR Transmission system.
