Digital Vax Certificates May Re-Open Aust Borders

Australians will use a QR-code vaccine certificate for international travel under a multi-million-dollar Federal Government plan to reopen the borders.

The Sydney Morning Herald and The Age said the Government’s expenditure review committee has backed a proposal for digital vaccination certificates, to enable quarantine-free international travel.

The certificates could be accessed through a secure online portal on a traveller’s MyGov account.

The Prime Minister is also pushing for it to be used for domestic travel to encourage vaccination take-up.

But some members of the Coalition aren’t in favour, because they oppose the mandatory nature of the system.
