Could A New iMac Be Arriving Soon After All?

Just last week, it was reported the new iMac rumoured to be unveiled by Apple this month was delayed until 2024. Now, it appears this may not be the case, as Mark Gurman from Bloomberg has revealed the new 24-inch iMac could be here as early as October 30th.

Mark states this would end a 900 day product release drought since the M1 iMac was launched during the first half of 2021.

No specific chip was revealed, however, it was previously predicted to have an M3 chip.

Mark said he was “told that Apple is planning a Mac-centered product launch around the end of this month,” and added, if anyone tries to order the iMac, 13-inch MacBook Pro, or either of the other higher-end Pro models, multiple configurations won’t be shipped until November.

It was noted the last time Apple held off discussions regarding this quarter’s earnings until after October, a new Mac and iPad had just been announced.

The 14-inch and 16-inch Pro notebooks were last refreshed in January, so these could still be on a 2024 release timeline. It has, however, been over a year since the 13-inch MacBook Pro was updated, and the iMac is inching towards a third year on the same chip.

Mark doesn’t expect significant differences apart from processors and possibly “minor improvements to displays.” He did predict the next real change will be a new iMac Pro in 2025, followed by OLED MacBook Pros in 2026, which could have updated designs and features.

Stay tuned for more information regarding the new iMac release, and whether it will come to fruition.
