The latest research from Omdia reveals new insights into the performance of the US PC market for Q3 2025. According to the data, total shipments fell 1 per cent year-over-year to 17.7 million units. This modest decline occurred even as the consumer segment showed strong momentum, growing 8 per cent in the quarter. The drop was driven primarily by the education and government segments, which together recorded a significant 23 per cent contraction in shipments.

HP led the US market with 4.3 million units and a 24.4 per cent share. Dell followed closely with 4.0 million units for a 22.5 per cent share. Lenovo secured third place with 3.2 million units and an 18.1 per cent share. Apple finished just behind with a 17.9 per cent share, while Acer completed the top five at 4.6 per cent.

PC Shipments Decline for a Second Consecutive Quarter

New analysis from Omdia confirms that PC shipments (excluding tablets) to the United States fell 1 per cent year-on-year in Q3 2025, reaching 17.7 million units. This marks the second consecutive quarter of annual decline. Although macroeconomic pressures continue to weigh on overall sales, the consumer segment performed strongly, expanding 8 per cent to 7.6 million units. The commercial segment showed resilience, slipping by just under 1 per cent for the quarter. The education and government markets, however, saw deeper declines with a combined 23 per cent drop in shipments.

Despite these mixed results, Omdia maintains a positive outlook for the holiday season. The firm expects the US PC market to return to year-on-year growth in 2025, with full-year shipments forecast to increase by 4 per cent.
