CES 2019: Philips TV’s Set To Be Big This Year In OZ

2019 is set to be a big year for Philips TV’s in Australia, there will not only be a 55″ OLED TV but a new range of Ultra High Definition Android TV’s with Google Assistant.

After years of using its proprietary Net TV platform new 2019 Philips TVs will offer Android TV with Google Assistant with both The Good Guys and JB Hi Fi tipped to range the new offerings.

In the USA where I am at the moment Phillips has got into bed with Google to develop a new range of Android TV’s including two series, the 5704 and 5904, which will be available in five screen sizes ranging from 43- to 75-inches and will be on display next week at CES 2019.

While Android TV is already a superior offering to many of the Chinese brand TV’s the Philips TV’s will come with Chromecast Built-in functionality along with Google Assistant that will imbue the TVs with the ability to talk to Philips Hue, and other Google Assistant compatible products.

The Australian Philips TV’s will support HDR10 and Bright Pro, a backlight boost that brightens the image by up to ten percent compared to standard LED displays.

The 5904 series will offer an integrated far-field microphone solution allowing users to access Assistant anywhere in the room.

At this stage it’s not known when the new Philips range will be available in Australia however CES 2019 should deliver some answers.
