CES 2019: JBL Unveil Under Armour True Wireless Earphones

CES 2019 plays host to the latest collaboration between JBL and Under Armour with the debut of their new true wireless earphones, the UA True Wireless FLASH available now from AU$240.

The UA True Wireless FLASH earphones are specifically designed with athletes like runners and cyclists in mind with UA Storm Proof waterproof tech with an IPX7 rating to endure sweaty gym sessions or downpours.

Featuring JBL Charged Sound, a proprietary sport-optimised sound curve and 5.8mm drivers to pump out bass while getting a workout in.

The UA True Wireless FLASH features two new sound technologies, TalkThru and AmbientAware which enable wearers to remain aware of their surroundings (e.g. traffic noises) for safety reasons.

TalkThru enables wearers to lower music volume and amplify speech for conversations with a workout partner etc. with a touch of a button and AmbientAware allows wearers to amplify background noises with a quick double tap — ideal for traffic.

JBL claim these earphones are “ultra-comfortable” thanks to the Sport Flex Fit design that keeps the earphones secure without the need to readjust.

The earphones claim to deliver up to 5-hours of battery life and an impressive total of 25 hours thanks to the included aluminium charging case.

“We’re excited to introduce Under Armour’s first-ever truly wireless headphone into the sport headphones market,” said Pascal Van Laer, VP & GM, Headphones and Wearables Business Unit at HARMAN.

“The powerful sound quality from JBL, paired with innovative TalkThru and AmbientAware technologies, creates the perfect headphone for every workout experience.”

In addition to the UA True Wireless FLASH, JBL released three other true wireless earphone designs: JBL Endurance Peak sports earphones with touch controls (approx AU$170); JBL Tune120TWS budget true wireless (approx AU$140); and stylish JBL Reflect Flow earphones (approx AU$210 available mid-2019).
