CE Retailers Serving Deals During Prime Day

Consumer electronic retailers are preparing themselves for Amazon Prime Day by holding their own one-day only sales to compete with the online behemoth.

Some commentators are dubbing the defensive sales as ‘Anti-Prime Day’.

The Good Guys are having a two day ‘Big Day Deals’ sale with a wide range of products on sale including discounts on UE Boom 2, Google Chromecast and 20 per cent off selected HP computers.

JB Hi-Fi does not seem to have specific day sales but has slashed the price of a number of TVs, taken $200 off DJI Mavic Pro, taken 20 per cent off Sony Blu-ray and 4K DVD players and taken 15 per cent of Nokia phones.

Harvey Norman has a number of deals for today including discounts on the UE Boom 2 priced at $136 and the Google Home range, with the Google Home priced at $129 and the Mini at $50.

However a US based Bluecore, an email marketing service says Prime Day helps CE retailers, not hinders. The marketing firm claims 400 retail clients in the US during Prime Day saw a 16 per cent average increase in unique visitors and traffic spikes as high as 49 percent.

eBay is also taking a swipe at Amazon with its own 25 per cent off tech sale which is happening until July 18.

Amazon Prime Day starts at midday today until tomorrow July 17 at midnight.
