eBay Takes On Amazon With 25% Off Tech Sale

eBay Australia has taken on Amazon and Kogan.com, launching a limited time consumer electronics sale with “hundreds of dollars” of savings. Discounts include an ‘unprecedented’ 25% off for eBay Plus members.

Commencing 12pm on July 12th, the sale lasts until July 18th (full T&Cs on eBay Australia’s website).

Commentators assert eBay’s tech promo seeks to snare sales away from Amazon’s Prime Day, which is scheduled to start on July 16th.

By using the code ‘PROXY’ consumers gain a 20% discount – a 25% discount for eBay Plus members.

A concurrent sale has also discounted a plethora of other electronics items (e.g. appliances).

As previously reported, Australia is one a few global locations to access to eBay Plus – a membership based program which competes with Amazon’s Prime programme.

The news comes amid intensifying competition in the consumer electronics e-commerce space, with a flurry of online sales further pressuring traditional retailers.

Both eBay Plus and Amazon Prime have a free trial period, enabling users to participate in the sales promo for free.
