Canton Eliminates Need For Receiver With New Speakers

As several receiver brands battle it out in Australia for market share, a German speaker brand has moved to eliminate the need for a receiver in a home theatre set up,  a move that some claim could take off as consumers look for audio simplicity and quality output.

German audio brand Canton has launched a new range of “GLE Smart Active Series Speakers” that don’t need a receiver to deliver Doly Atmos quality audio.

To achieve perfect surround sound without the need of an AV Receiver whether it’s a 5.1, 5.2, 7.1, 7.2 or even 5.1.2 configuration all you need to do is connect a pair of Canton speakers to a TV via optical or even Bluetooth to eliminate the need for an AV receiver.

Distributed by Indi Imports and now available at Rio Sound and Vision, the Canton active bookshelf speakers deliver 350 Watts of output.

The speakers have an aluminum-manganese Tweeter, Titanium Wave Surround Mid/Bass Driver, Bluetooth, Analogue & Digital Inputs, and are designed & manufactured in Germany.

Indi management claim that for those who want to use a receiver they can still get a wireless connection and also use passive speaker output using a Canton 5.1 AMP.

The proprietary technology coupled with the smarts built into the speakers can see a home theatre set up established in 15 minutes.
