Calls For New Yahoo Probe
Yahoo is being questioned over the Internet media giant’s failure to disclose to investors and the public a massive data breach, which occurred in 2014 but was only confirmed last week.
US Senator Mark Warner said in a letter to the Securities Exchange Commission that Yahoo CEO Marissa Mayer had waited until last week to formally reveal that information on 500 million accounts had been compromised, even though she has known about it as early as July.
Warner, a Virginia Democrat and co-founder of the Senate Cybersecurity Caucus, also questioned whether Yahoo had failed to give timely notification to Verizon Communications, which announced plans to acquire Yahoo’ core assets earlier this year.
