Buggy 4K Google Chromecast Gets Update

Google has had to issue a fix for the 4K Chromecast dongle due to bugs and poor performance.

The big search Company who is now pushing their Google TV offering has delivered a firmware update for the Google TV Chromecast that was launched in Australia last September.

The fix labelled build number 200918.033 delivers an improved a much-awaited fix for a recovery screen issue which has been reported by thousands of users.

The issue has been highlighted by affected users on various platforms, including Twitter, Reddit, and even on Google’s own forums. It crops up randomly and renders the remote control useless, making it difficult for users to get around it.

The update is being rolled out in batches and therefore, it may take time to reach Australian users who will get the update when they log on.

According to Google the latest update improves 4K support for TVs/AVRs and Dolby Audio for Dolby Atmos and Dolby Digital Plus passthrough content.

It also bumps up the security patch level to December 2020 and brings general stability, performance, and security improvements.
