BREAKING NEWS:Ingram Micro Down Distributor Refusing To Say Why
Supply to Australia CE retailers, solution providers and B2b sellers could be affected after one of the largest distributors of technology was hacked with their servers going down for several days with Ingram Micro management failing to communicate even with partners as to the extent of the hack attack.
US IT distributor Ingram Micro who competes with Dicker Data and Synnex in the supply of technology goods to Australian Companies, was hit back on Thursday with the hack attack which came at the same time that Qantas was hacked is believed to have been hit with a ransomware attack associated with the SafePay ransomware organization according to multiple sources.
At this stage the Company is putting the problem down to a “Maintenance” issue.
The Company who has warehouses across Australia first started experiencing technical problems last Thursday with their websites and portals inaccessible, what now known is what impact the problem will have in Australia with the Company using common distribution software globally which is often run from the same servers.
Last week Ingram Micro CEO Paul Bay was in Australia trying to reposition Ingram Micro as a platform company.
He was claiming that partners need more than just products, they need strategic services and digital support to stay competitive and be future-ready.
Bay was in Australia to discuss the benefits of their digital experience Xvantage platform which went live in Australia back in April to help drive speed, scale, and service with partner experience as the central focus.
At this stage the only access partners have is a ‘Maintenance” message on the Australian web site telling partners to contact the USA.
At this stage it’s not known whether the senior management team at Ingram Micro were actually back in the USA when their network went down.

Retailers have been unable to place orders and customers are complaining about poor communication.
In a lot of cases brands have spread distribution of their products over multiple distributors with retailers able to switch to a new supplier other than Ingram Micro.
According to customers, communication from Ingram Micro leaves much to be desired.
The maintenance page in the says: “We are currently experiencing technical difficulties. We apologize for the inconvenience and are working to resolve the issue as quickly as possible.”
Customers are expressing their frustration on Reddit. “I can’t believe it’s powering towards 24 hours and there’s absolutely no feedback whatsoever of what’s going on,” writes one user. Emails to account managers are being rejected and phone numbers are unreachable, according to users. The error message does provide email addresses and phone numbers for contact.
The distributor, which had revenues of US $12.28 billion in the first quarter of 2025 is a key part of the supply chain in the Australian CE market.
Partners told CRN they are “extremely concerned” that the ransomware attack could linger for some time and are making plans for alternative sources for products if the situation is not resolved quickly.
“This is our worst nightmare come true,” said the CEO for one company, who has reached out to Ingram Micro and has not heard back on the extent of the outage.
“If we can’t place orders or get quotes it stops our business. We are extremely concerned that this could last for some time and have reached out to Ingram. The lack of communication from them heightens our concern. We are thinking about options right now and have reached out to TD Synnex for help to process orders if this goes on for an extended period of time.”
Ingram Micro’s partner portal is completely inaccessible according to local.
This means that partners cannot manage Microsoft 365 licenses, modify Dropbox licenses, or order hardware. For many companies, this means they cannot carry out their daily operations.
According to reports on social media, employees at some overseas operations have been sent home.
They were instructed to keep their laptops turned off. This may indicate ransomware.
The exact cause of the outage is unclear. Some users are speculating about malicious activity, but there is no confirmation.
