Bose Move To Take On Sony & Jabra With New Premium Noise Cancelling Cans

A new battle is set to break out at the top end of the premium noise cancelling headphone market with Bose set to take on Sony, Jabra and JBL with a new set of expensive cans that the US sound Company claims are superior to their popular Bose QC35s, despite them only delivering 20 hours of battery life.

Bose claims that their all new Bose 700’s deliver numerous improvements over their current models, hey need to be as Sony has been stripping share away from Bose while Jabra is winning share with their new Jabra Elite 85H which deliver 30 hours + of battery life.

One new feature of the Bose offering is that the new headphones deliver noise cancellation when making phone calls delivering what Bose claims is a clear and crisp sound experience.

This has been made possible with the introduction of new rejection-array technology which adds a second line of defence, tracking then blocking the most disruptive remaining sound, Bose claims the technology also improves music listening.

Like the former Samsung Harman headphones users can swipe the side of the cans to pump up the volume, skip tracks and even tell you exactly how long the battery has left.

Bose claims that they have new technology that eliminates the “hiss” regularly heard in other headphones and that they now have 10 stages of blocking.

Combined, they enable the 700’s new adjustable noise cancellation feature, which allows the user to change the level of the blocking in 10 stages.

At 10 you won’t hear anything around you but set the headphones to one and more noise will flood into the cups.

There is also a new ‘Conversation Mode’ that’s designed to let pause entertainment and noise cancellation simultaneously, chat face-to-face or listen for announcements, and resume where you left off when you’re done.

The big weakness is the price which is expected to be over $600 VS the fact that they only deliver 20 hours of noise on a single charge Vs the 30+ with the new Jabra Elite 85H headphones. This is not enough for a flight to London or New York.

Also built in is Google Assistant and Alexa voice command technology.

Brian Maguire, category director, Bose headphones said “Noise cancelling headphones have always helped us hear better — but we need to be heard better, too. And no mobile device has solved that problem. No phone, no headphone, and no combination of the two. But the Bose Noise Cancelling 700 changes that. And we can’t wait for people to experience the difference it makes.”
