Employee Desktops Go Mobile On Kingston Thumbdrives
As more employees work away from the office, businesses are trying to balance employee productivity with the cost of equipping them. Fortunately for them, Microsoft speaks enterprise fluently.
They have included a feature in their upcoming Windows 8 OS that allows employees to store their computer on a custom hard drive, which can be booted into when plugged into another computer. The feature is called ‘Windows To Go’ and it is endemic to Windows 8 enterprise.
Out of this need, Kingston has produced the DataTraveler Workspace USB Flash drive. It is a USB 3.0 thumb drive capable of SSD-like performance. It will be available in 32GB and 64GB variants and beta pricing is set at $US75 and $US140 respectively.
The device is ideal for contingent staff and mobile workforce who are sharing PCs or use their own devices.
“Kingston has been working together with Microsoft for over a year in developing a USB Flash drive capable of meeting the requirements of Windows To Go.
