As Sony declared leadership in ‘4K’ UHD race in Oz this week, it ups the ante with Bravia Full HD TVs unleashing tech like NFC ‘touch and tap’, to view content from a mobile on a big HD screen. Its new Bravia LED HD Smart TVs range from the affordable ($749) to the high end W series, which goes up to $4999. The new Sony’s comes in sizes including 70″ 60″ and 32″.
All have Full HD, Wi-Fi, access to Sony Entertainment Network, catch-up TV – ABC iView, SBS, PLUS7 and Ten, Yupp TV (Indian TV) movies on demand – Video Unlimited, Quickflix, Yupp.TV, Crackle, Mubi.
Music options include: Music Unlimited, Pandora, Moshcam, vTuner and the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra.
Sony says around 70 per cent of new BRAVIA customers are connecting their TVs to the internet and on-demand video services, with numbers “growing substantially month by month.”
Sony has kitted out two models from Bravia W – Series (W800A & W900A with Near Field Communication ‘one touch’ technology, which ‘pair’ devices to view content from a phone/tablet on the Bravia.
It is not the first maker to introduce NFC to Smart TVs, technology found on newer smartphones like Samsung S4. LG also has similar technology on its Smart TVs.
You can also control the TV from Android or iOS smartphone or tablet, browse the channel guide and recordings and still stay on the channel they are watching via SideView.
The high end W-Series boast X-Reality Pro picture engine for brilliant picture quality. The W900A is Sony’s most premium HD TV and is the only TV outside of its 4K range with TRILUMINOS display, with 30% more colour than standard LED/LCD. The big screen Sony R-Series Bravia LED Full HD TVs give 3D vision (Sony is including four x 3D glasses), comes in 70″,60″ and 50″ sizes, starting at $1999-$4999.

| Both ranges are available in stores and online now via Sony’s traditional retail channels, Sony Centres, Kiosks and Sony online store.
