ASUS Targets Tablet Comeback With OLED-Powered ‘Pad’ After Smartphone Exit
ASUS appears to be pivoting its mobile strategy, with new leaks revealing a premium Android tablet just months after the company confirmed it would stop making smartphones.
Images and specs published this week by Android Headlines point to a device simply branded the ASUS Pad, making it a potential rival to Apple’s iPad Pro and Samsung’s Galaxy Tab S range.
The tablet is tipped to feature a 12.2-inch dual-layer OLED display with a 144Hz refresh rate, a combination more commonly seen in high-end devices. Support for Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos is also expected, suggesting ASUS is targeting media consumption and entertainment use cases.

Design-wise, the ASUS Pad adopts a minimalist approach, with uniform slim bezels, a metal chassis with slightly curved edges and a single rear camera module. The device is reportedly 6.5mm thin and weighs 523 grams, placing it in line with other premium tablets in its class.
Battery capacity is listed at 9,000mAh, with fast charging support confirmed, although exact charging speeds remain unclear.
Leaked images also show an official case accessory featuring a foldable, origami-style stand, enabling multiple viewing angles across portrait and landscape modes.

Key details such as the processor, RAM configurations, pricing and launch timing have yet to be disclosed.
The move signals ASUS may be refocusing its consumer hardware strategy toward tablets and larger-screen devices, despite stepping away from smartphones earlier this year.
With Computex approaching, more concrete details are expected to emerge soon.
The Pad suggests Asus is not leaving mobile hardware entirely, just changing its form factor.
