Asus is betting that big gaming performance no longer needs a big box.

Unveiled at CES 2026, the new ROG GR70 is a compact desktop PC that squeezes near–desktop-class hardware into a chassis small enough to sit behind a monitor or beside a console. It’s now set for a global rollout.

Despite measuring just 282.4 × 187.7 × 56.6mm, the GR70 pairs AMD’s top-tier Ryzen 9 9955HX3D – a 16-core, 32-thread chip with 3D V-Cache – with an Nvidia GeForce RTX 5070 laptop GPU. The graphics chip runs at up to 100W, with a further 15W available via Dynamic Boost, and supports ray tracing and DLSS 4 for modern AAA titles.

Asus says this combination delivers the kind of performance normally reserved for much larger towers or bulky gaming laptops, but in a far more living-room-friendly form factor.

To keep temperatures under control, the GR70 uses a triple-fan ROG QuietFlow cooling system designed to maintain performance without excessive noise.

The mini-PC ships with 32GB of DDR5 memory and a 1TB NVMe SSD, but buyers can upgrade to as much as 96GB of RAM thanks to dual SO-DIMM slots, with tool-less access for easy upgrades.

Connectivity is another strong point, with HDMI 2.1, DisplayPort 2.1, multiple USB-A and USB-C ports, 2.5Gb Ethernet, plus Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4. Asus even claims support for up to five 4K displays at once.

In China, the ROG GR70 is priced at the equivalent of about US$2100, suggesting Australian pricing once confirmed is likely to land at over A$3,000.

Asus has yet to announce local pricing or an exact release date, but international availability is expected from February.

At CES, Asus also unveiled its next-generation RGB OLED gaming monitors, introducing RGB Stripe Pixel OLED technology to reduce text fringing and improve clarity, while retaining OLED’s contrast and fast response times.
