Arlo Taps Into Australia Having The 6th Highest Burglary Rate In The World.

US security camera Company Arlo Technologies is taking it right up to some of the questionable high risk Chinese security products such as Ezviz, being sold by Officeworks, with a new range of 2K cameras that are set to sell for as low as $129, the move comes as Australia earns a reputation of having the 6th highest burglary rate in the world.

According to Arlo research Australians are becoming more conscious of their home security with ownership of a security camera rising from 4% in 2018 to 16% in 2023. Intent to own a security product has jumped from 10% in 2018 to 34% in 2023.

This week the Company launched its second-generation Essential cameras and doorbell, each available in 2K resolution, featuring USB-C connections for easy re-charging and a new quick set-up process via Bluetooth.

Thirty percent of Australians researched said that the price of security cameras was a barrier to buying while 33% said that they had no need for a security camera.

Of the total market 22% said they wanted a camera that they could monitor via an app.

When it came to Brand Awareness both Arlo and the Amazon owned Ring went up in 2023 while Google’s Nest brand fell.

As COVID was unfolding, 3.5% of Australians experienced a break in according to a Home Burglary survey and of these, 66% reported that property was stolen including 20% personal items.

According to Szmigiera’s data from 2018 (published in 2022), Australia had the sixth highest rate of burglaries in the world.

New Zealand had the highest rate, with 1354 cases per 100,000 people, Chile was second and Denmark third.

The second generation Essential Indoor Camera incorporates an automated privacy shield, 130-degree viewing angle, night vision, two-way talk, and an integrated siren. To set up, simply plug in and connect to Wi-Fi. RRP is $129 for a single camera kit.

The Arlo 2nd generation Video Doorbell has been designed to allow users to answer the doorbell from their phone and have guests leave a voice message that can be listened to remotely.
It features 180-degree field of view, night vision, two-way audio, and an integrated siren. It’s certified to withstand heat, cold, rain and sun. RRP is $229.

The second-generation Essential cameras and doorbell are fully compatible with Arlo’s mobile app, Arlo Secure.
