Apple appears set to depart from its usual launch formula with an upcoming media gathering scheduled for 4 March 2026. Instead of hosting a keynote at Apple Park in Cupertino, the company has invited selected media in London, New York and Shanghai to attend what it describes as a “special Apple Experience”.

Invitations sent to journalists specify an in person event in London at 2:00pm GMT. The design features a three dimensional Apple logo formed from overlapping yellow, green and blue discs. Notably absent is any reference to a keynote presentation or livestream, and the date does not currently appear on Apple’s official events page.

The wording has prompted speculation that the gathering will differ from Apple’s typical product launches, which are usually broadcast worldwide. Technology commentators on social media have suggested the format may focus on hands on demonstrations for press and influencers rather than a traditional stage presentation.

Attention has quickly turned to what could be unveiled. Industry rumours point to the possible introduction of the iPhone 17e, expected to succeed the more affordable iPhone 16e released last year. While Apple has not confirmed any product details, reports suggest the new model could adopt the same A19 chip anticipated for the flagship iPhone 17.

If pricing remains aligned with its predecessor, analysts expect the iPhone 17e to start at around A$1,199 for the 128GB version, rising to approximately A$1,399 for 256GB and A$1,799 for 512GB, based on current exchange rates. Bloomberg analyst Mark Gurman has indicated that the device may offer expanded features without a corresponding price increase, strengthening its appeal in the mid range segment.

Among the most discussed upgrades is potential support for MagSafe charging. The existing iPhone 16e is limited to Qi wireless charging at 7.5W. Compatibility with MagSafe accessories could increase speeds to as much as 25W, significantly reducing charging times.

Other reported additions include Apple’s C1X cellular chip and N1 wireless chip, though these details remain unconfirmed. With the invitations now circulating, speculation is likely to intensify in the lead up to the March event.
