Apple Planning Huge Overhaul for Watch X’s 10th Anniversary
The next lineup of smartwatches from Apple is expected to be a minor upgrade, with the company currently working on a “revamped” ‘Watch X’ update for the 10th anniversary.
This upgrade is in the works, however won’t appear this year, with the 2023 models due next month, gaining a minor revamp.
Apple executives have been thinking about turning away from the annual upgrade cycle, and have released a new watch every year since 2015, however recent upgrades seem to underscore this.
The Apple Watch has been getting minor changes annually compared to the iPhone, with the Series 8 model gaining the main addition of a body temperature sensor last year. The main update this year was a larger display, and the year before last was the last time the performance was boosted.

Last year, the company launched a new Apple Watch Ultra, with high end upgrade, however this year seems to be another low key year.
Apple are also set to unveil the Watch Series 9 lineup alongside the latest iPhone at an event on September 12th, remaining the same size as current models, with the most notable differences being faster processors and new colours.
The company are now planning a ‘Watch X’ marking the 10th anniversary, promising a huge overhaul, with designers working on a thinner case, and exploring changing way bands.
Explored was the idea of a new magnetic band attachment system, however it’s unclear if it will be ready or used with revamp. The company are even working on a microLED display, and technology for monitoring blood pressure.
