Apple Drastically Reduces AirPod Production For 2021

Apple will be reducing its planned AirPod production this year by up to 30 per cent, according to reports from Nikkei Asia.

Originally, the company had planned to produce 110 million units throughout 2021, but that figure has been revised, due to increasing competition and lowering sales.

Apple now plan to produce between 75 and 85 million units.

Mass production has already started on the AirPod 3, which may be the reason for the diminishing sales of the current models, as customers wait for the newer model. The AirPod Pro 2 is also expected to be released in the second half of the year.

The drop in sales may also be due to problems with the design itself. Many customers have complained about the maximum volume diminishing over time, and the difficulties in cleaning the products.
