Apple Cracks Corporate Market – Company Sales Hit $25 Billion
Apple products, once largely shunned by US corporations in favour of equipment from IBM or Hewlett-Packard, these days are the preferred mobile computing devices inside large companies and many government agencies.
Apple’s iPhones and iPads are everywhere as organisations seek to ditch bulky PCs and give their employees the ability to do their jobs from anywhere using smartphones or tablets, according to a New York Times report. They regard the Apple gear as inherently more secure than Android equipment,
Sales of high-end iPads to business customers in particular have been strong. Nearly half of all iPads are now bought by corporations and governments, according to the research firm Forrester.
“Apple is stronger in the enterprise market with its devices than it is with consumers,” said Frank Gillett, an industry analyst at Forrester.
Apple says that in its last financial year, it sold $25 billion in gear and services to companies and other large customers. Business sales were up 40 percent from the previous year.
