Design Issues Delay Apple’s AR Glasses
Apple, which is gearing up to launch its first mixed reality headset in 2023, is also working on AR glasses but does not have the right design for it yet, as per rumours.
Haitong International Tech Research analyst Jeff Pu had claimed that Apple’s debut AR headset has been pushed back to 2023 after a limited rollout plan in late 2022.
Now, however, Pu is expecting AR headset to be postponed to 2025-2026 due to “design issues.”
On the other hand, Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has stressed that Apple is “likely” to launch its long-rumoured mixed-reality headset.
In a post on Medium, Kuo also mentioned that the device is “the most complicated product Apple has ever designed” which led Apple to use parts from several of its current suppliers.
Around the time of the Apple AR delay rumour, Apple was estimated to sell between 1 million and 1.5 million units of its mixed reality device in the first year.
However, that amount is no way near the 240 million iPhones that were thought to be sold in 2021.
It is yet to be seen if the AR headset will be released. Its price point is also unclear, although it will likely be expensive if it gets rolled out at all.
