Android 13 is gearing up to be a substantial update, offering a number of features that are long overdue, including built-in QR code scanning (which would have been nice two years ago), easier sharing features, and, as recently revealed by analyst Mishaal Rehman, a feature that lets users control the brightness of the torch feature.

This feature is already available for iPhone users, as well as on Samsung’s One UI Android mod.

Unfortunately, the feature might not be available on a lot of exisiting phones, even when updated to Android 13. Rehamn explains that it requires a hardware interface that many Android phones don’t currently possess.

The torch control is expected to debut on Google’s upcoming Pixel phones and then trickle down to other Android phones as they roll out, with the necessary hardware interface intact.

Until then, best to just carry around a Dolphin.
