Andreessen Horowitz Backs Aussie Communications Startup

Twitter and Airbnb investor Andreessen Horowitz has made its first investment in Australia, buying into employee communication tech start-up Pyn.

Pyn, which was started by Atlassian’s former head of people, Joris Luijke, and Culture Amp co-founder Jon Williams, uses marketing techniques such as personalisation and automated messaging to help businesses communicate with their employees better.

Since raising $US2.2 million in July last year, Pyn has been able to capitalise on the shift to remote work triggered by COVID-19, with Luijke saying companies were compelled to find ways to better communicate with staff in a hybrid work environment.

“The adoption of remote work norms and a new generation of remote collaboration tools certainly lowers the barriers to build a great company from anywhere in the world.” Andreessen Horowitz general partner David Ulevitch told The Australian Financial Review.
