Amazon has begun rolling out a major redesign of its Fire TV interface, marking the biggest overhaul of the platform in years.

The update, first previewed at CES 2026, is now landing on select devices in the US as a free software upgrade. Amazon says broader device and regional support will follow in the coming months.

At the centre of the update is a cleaner, faster home screen designed to put content front and centre. Amazon claims the new interface delivers interactions that are between 20-30% faster, with smoother navigation and reduced visual clutter.

Visually, the redesign introduces rounded corners, updated typography and more consistent spacing.

The layout has also been simplified, with a streamlined navigation bar across the top offering quick access to Movies, TV, Live TV, Sports and News. A search shortcut now sits prominently to the left of the Home tab.

One of the most noticeable changes is expanded app pinning. Previously users could only pin six apps to the home screen.

The new interface increases that limit to up to 20 apps, making it easier to keep services like Netflix, Disney+, Prime Video and YouTube within easy reach. Apps can also be rearranged directly using the remote.

Content discovery has also been enhanced. Dedicated sections aggregate recommendations from subscribed services into unified rows such as ‘For You’, while the Live TV tab centralises broadcast, antenna and streaming live content in one place.

Alexa is playing a larger role, too. The updated interface integrates Amazon’s Alexa+ assistant, allowing users to make more natural language requests, refine searches and even ask contextual questions about on-screen titles.

The redesign is rolling out first to the Fire TV Stick 4K Plus, Fire TV Stick 4K Max (2nd Gen) and Fire TV Omni Mini-LED Series in the US.

Amazon says support for additional devices and international markets is expected later this year.
