Adele Persuades Spotify To Remove Album Shuffle Button

Adele is one of those old-school artists who still believes that an album is a piece of art, and part of experiencing that art is in the running order of the songs.

Spotify, however, is all about playlists, and shuffling, even if this runs counter to the idea of an ‘album

Adele has convinced Spotify to remove the shuffle feature from her album — and now, from all albums, so albums actually play in the intended order.

The singer tweeted: “We don’t create albums with so much care and thought into our track listing for no reason.

“Our art tells a story and our stories should be listened to as we intended. Thank you Spotify for listening.”

Spotify replied by celebrating its “new premium feature… to make play the default button on all albums”, before noting this rather-obvious feature has been “long requested by both users and artists”.

Of course, if you really wanna hear the Sgt. Pepper reprise before the intro, you can still choose to shuffle an album; but this will no longer be the default.
