Acer Shows Off New Tablets & Laptops At Computex

Acer has expanded its tablet and laptop lineups with a range of new products at Computex this year.

The company delivered an update to its convertible Spin 1 notebook, introduced two new Iconia tablets, added to its Predator gaming notebook range, and launched a new notebook line for casual gamers called Nitro.

Configured with the latest Intel Pentium or Celeron processors, the Spin 1 convertible features an 11.6-inch Full HD touch screen, 4GB DDR3L memory and up to 128GB of eMMC storage in an all-metal chasis with a total weight of 1.25KG and thickness of 14mm.

Acer quotes a battery life of eight hours for the Spin 1, which also features a Precision Touchpad and Intel Wireless-AC technology for improved download speeds.

As for Acer’s new tablets, the company did not provide all the tech specs of the upcoming Iconia Tab 10 and Iconia One 10, but both feature a quad-core MediaTek processor and run Android Nougat with a battery life of up to eight hours.

One feature the company did disclose is the Quantum Dot display of the Iconia Tab 10, which Acer claims offers “a wider colour range with higher brightness, deeper saturation and better accuracy for dramatically more vivid visuals”. The Iconia One 10 lacks the Quantum Dot display, but adds two micro-USB ports for additional functionality.

Acer also added to its Predator gaming range with the Triton 700, which utilises Nvidia’s Max-Q design approach to fit a Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 graphics card and a 7th Generation Intel Core processor in its 18.9mm-thin aluminium chasis.

Two NVMe PCIe SSDs can be configured in RAID 0 on the Triton 700, which also includes up to 32GB of DDR4 memory. Other features include a Full HD 15.6-inch display with support for Nvidia G-Sync, Dolby Atomos surround sound and a RGB backlit mechanical keyboard.

At the more affordable end of the market, the Nitro 5 is the first entry in Acer’s new Nitro line of cheaper gaming notebooks. A wide range of configuration options are available for the Nitro 5, including Intel Core i7 or i5 processors paired with up to a Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 Ti graphics card, or AMD A-Series FX, A12 or A10 APUs paired with a Radeon RX550 graphics card.

All version of the Nitro 5 features a 15.6-inch Full HD display, and are configurable with up to 32GB of DDR4 memory and PCIe SSDs up to 512GB. The notebook also features Acer’s Coolboost technology for additional control over the cooling process.

Pricing and availability for the new Acer products has not been announced.
