Microsoft Gets Oz Govt Security Certification For CRM Online

Microsoft Gets Oz Govt Security Certification For CRM OnlineIt claims to be the only cloud provider in Australia
to have received this certification for anything beyond
infrastructure-as-a-service.

“We have just completed the certification of CRM online for Australian
Government security requirements, a process run by the Australian Signals
Directorate,” Microsoft Australia CTO James Kavanagh told a press briefing
at Microsoft’s Ignite event on the Gold Coast.

“It says the security controls we have in place are effective for the
handling of unclassified and sensitive data.representing the great majority of
data at a federal, state and local level.”

Kavanagh said the process meant that for six months Microsoft had had a team of
independent assessors engaged with its engineers and its datacentres, looking
at the effectiveness of its security controls.

To maintain its certification it will have to repeat the process every two
years. – Stuart Corner
