Foxtel To Launch New Set Top Box Days Out From Netflix Launch

Desperate to gain a PR edge of their US pay TV rival, Foxtel has teased journalists with their new iQ3 set top box, while they have not confirmed pricing that have made a valiant effort to spruik the benefits of the new box that replaces a 10 year old Foxtel set top box.

People with a pre-registered interest in the product will get information ahead of consumers who are paying over $150 a month to get programs via the current box that has a poor interface and limited capability when compared to what a Fetch TV offers via iiNet and Optus.

The company said that it’s “finishing up a few final details” on the product, and will “keep customers posted” on when they can order the new box.

New features include a ‘Start Over’ function that lets you skip right to the beginning of a show that you’ve come into mid-way, as well as improved search, recommendation and EPG functionality.

The iQ3 is being manufactured by Pace, insiders at the Company have told SmartHouse that the new Foxtel box does not have the latest chipsets that Fetch TV will use in their new box due in the second half of 2015.
